WASHINGTON (JTA) — President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed "a series of issues" in a 20-minute phone conversation.
Monday’s conversation between the two leaders was "positive," according to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Netanyahu talked about his intention to make a "diplomatic speech at the beginning of next week in which he will outline his policy to achieve peace and security," and Obama said he was looking forward to hearing the speech, according to the release.
In its release, the White House called the talk "constructive" and said that the president "reiterated the principal elements of his Cairo speech, including his commitment to Israel’s security."
Obama and Netanyahu agreed to continue "maintaining an open and continuous contact between them," according to the Israeli release.
