JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli diplomats visited the Persian Gulf state of Oman and met with their counterparts.
Yossi Gal, director-general of Israel’s Foreign Ministry, led the Israeli team in a discussion on Middle East peace efforts with the Omani leaders, according to the French news agency AFP, which cited Omani officials.
The team arrived Sunday and left Tuesday.
Oman broke off relations with Israel in 2000 at the start of the second Palestinian intifada.
The delegation was in Oman officially to participate in the annual conference of the Middle East Desalination Research Center, of which Israel is a member. The center was established in 1996 by Oman, Israel, Japan, South Korea and the United States.
