Headlining the National Council of Young Israel’s May events for Orthodox singles: A $54 guided tour of New York’s Holocaust museum, followed by a program and a reception.

Nothing like the Holocaust to get singles together.

But if that’s not enough, there will be facilitators on hand to help get the mixing going.

"Sometimes people come to events and they’re uncomfortable going over to someone they don’t know," Judi Steinig, who is organizing the event, explained to me. "We’ll have facilitators there — people that help singles get to know each other," she said. "It’s very standard to have somebody. It doesn’t have to be a matchmaker, just someone who’s good at socializing."

Aside from the guided tour of the Museum of Jewish Heritage, Steinig said, "There will be eating, there will be socializing. We’ll probably be doing some games or speed dating."

YOUNG ISRAEL MOVEMENT TO PRESENT PROGRAMS FOR ORTHODOX SINGLES

The National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) will present a number of exciting programs for Orthodox singles during the month May.

First, the NCYI will present a program for singles in New York City on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 7:30 PM.  The event, which is called "Remember the Past….Connect to the Future," will take place at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, which is located at 36 Battery Place in Manhattan.

The program is open to Orthodox singles over the age of 35.  The cost of the program is $45 per person (or $54 after May 1).  Attendees will enjoy a private tour of the museum followed by the program and a reception.
