(JTA) — Jewish British ministers David and Ed Miliband are both set to run for leader of the Labor Party.
The brothers are the sons of Jewish immigrants to Britain.
The election to lead the Labor Party comes after a poor showing in elections earlier this month that ousted Labor from power. Gordon Brown, who stepped down this week as prime minister, said earlier this week that he also will step down as party leader by September.
The Milibands lost about 80 family members during the Holocaust, according to the Jerusalem Post.
The Milibands’ mother is Polish-born Marion Kozek. Their late father was Belgian-born Marxist intellectual Ralph Miliband.
