(JTA) — A New York man accused of stabbing his parents to death is in custody in Israel.

Eric Bellucci, 30, was detained last Friday after attempting to buy a ticket to China, Haaretz quoted Israeli police as saying. Bellucci will be sent back to the United States.

He was detained after an airline employee alerted police.

Bellucci landed in Israel on the morning of Oct. 14. His parents had been discovered murdered in their Staten Island, N.Y., home the previous evening.

He is the only suspect in the case, police told the New York Post.

Bellucci is not Jewish and is not an Israeli citizen, the Post reported. The newspaper cited a source as saying that Bellucci has a friend living in Tel Aviv.
