Bethenny Frankel with Skinnygirl

Former New York City Housewife Bethenny Frankel and her Margarita brand Skinnygirl are facing a class-action lawsuit.

Apparently the self-proclaimed “all-natural” drink isn’t that all-natural after all. The problems with Skinnygirl started a few weeks ago, when Whole Foods pulled her margarita mix drink from the shelves, after discovering it contains a preservative called sodium benzoate, which according to federal court complaints is a “synthetic (and potentially carcinogenic) preservative found in many diet sodas.”

Things got worse yesterday when the lawsuit was filed against Skinnygirl and its owner, Jim Beam. They are accused of “false, deceptive, and misleading labeling and marketing.”

Jim Beam and Frankel issued a statement: “This litigation is frivolous. We will defend our case vigorously and we are fully confident we will prevail.”  The label is being changed from “all-natural” to “natural flavoring.”
