(JTA) — Thousands of Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries are participating in an international conference in New York.
Nearly 4,000 shluchim, as the emissaries are known, gathered in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn over the weekend for the annual event. Female emissaries, most the wives of the men at the conference, will have their own conference early next year.
The five-day conference featured a visit to the Queens grave of the last Lubavitcher rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, and the annual group photo in front of Chabad’s headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway, as well as lectures, workshops and family meetings.
A sit-down dinner on Sunday night to close the conference will include a roll call of the emissaries that will be streamed live on the Internet.
