(JTA) — Three Azerbaijanis were convicted in a Baku court of planning to kill teachers at a Jewish school in the capital city.
The three were found guilty Thursday of plotting the murders. They received weapons and money from Iran, The Associated Press reported, citing a court official.
The leader of the plot, Rasim Aliyev, said in a confession broadcast on television that the attack was in retaliation against Israel for the murder of an Iranian nuclear scientist, according to the AP.
Aliyev was sentenced to 14 years in prison; his two accomplices were sentenced to 13 years and 8 years.
