JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli man stabbed a security guard at the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv.
The security guard was wounded in the leg on Tuesday. He reportedly fired back at the attacker, who was armed with a knife and an axe.
It is not known why the assailant, identified by Israeli media outlets as a 41-year-old Jewish man from the central Israeli city of Bat Yam, attacked the guard. Political motives are not suspected, a Tel Aviv spokesperson told Haaretz.
The attacker was being held and questioned by police.
