To the Editors:
I wish to apologize to Irwin Cotler and to JTA for a careless and incorrect sentence in my recent Op-Ed.
In my haste to challenge what I saw as a tactical misstep on Iran, I badly overstepped the bounds of decency by referring to Professor Cotler as a leading pro-Israel advocate who is no longer actively involved in broader human rights concerns. This was wrong and unfair, as he remains a strong voice on human rights for all. I regret any damage this may have caused to Irwin Cotler, to JTA and to the readers.
