(JTA) — The French motorist who slammed his car into a crowd shouting “This is in the name of the children of Palestine” did not commit a terror attack, a prosecutor said.
At least 13 people were injured, two critically, in the incident Sunday in the city of Dijon, the French news agency AFP reported.
Dijon prosecutor Marie-Christine Tarrare told reporters Monday that the driver had a “long-lasting and severe psychological disorder” and that the incident was “not a terrorist attack,” AFP reported.
The same man also shouted “Allahu Akbar,” Arabic for “God is great,” as he drove into the crowd in different locations in the eastern French city, according to AFP.
Police are searching for two passengers who may have been in the car at the time of the attack.
The attack was similar to several committed by Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem in November.
A day earlier, a Muslim attacker shouted “Allahu Akbar” as he stabbed three officers at a police station in central France.
