Man arrested before burning Israeli flag outside Hyper Cacher

(JTA) — A man who was trying to burn an Israeli flag in front of the Paris kosher supermarket where a terrorist killed four Jewish hostages was arrested.

The 38-year-old man man was stopped in the act of burning the flag on Monday, according to Le Parisien. He was known to police already for other cases of “wanton destruction.”

The Hyper Cacher grocery store was held siege for several hours on Jan. 9 by Islamist Amedy Coulibaly, who was later killed by police. Coulibaly had killed a police officer a day earlier. His attacks were in coordination with the Jan. 7 shooting deaths of 12 people by Islamist brothers at the Charlie Hebdo magazine.
