(JTA) — A suburban Chicago woman charged with stealing $21,000 from a Hadassah chapter she served as treasurer appeared in court.
Rozann Morowitz, 68, of Wheeling, Illinois, was in court Monday on a felony theft charge, the Chicago Tribune reported. She is accused of writing dozens of checks from the Buffalo Grove Hadassah chapter that she cashed for personal expenses such as a trip to Florida.
Morowitz was the chapter’s treasurer while the theft occurred, from 2011 to 2013.
Her lawyer says that she wants to repay the money.
The trial is set for June 22.
