Israeli severely injured in West Bank stabbing attack

TEL AVIV (JTA) — An Israeli man was seriously wounded in a stabbing in the West Bank.

The victim, who was stabbed near the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron on Monday afternoon, was evacuated to a hospital, according to the Zaka emergency medical service. Israeli reports said he was in his 40s.

Israeli Border Police said it shot and killed the Palestinian attacker, Haaretz reported.

Hebron has been a hot spot of the recent violence in Israel and the West Bank. Jews and Muslims revere the city’s Tomb of the Patriarchs as the gravesite of their forefathers.

On Monday morning, the Israel Defense Forces targeted a Hamas military post in the Gaza Strip in response to gunfire from the strip aimed at IDF vehicles on Sunday and Friday.
