1 Killed, Many Wounded in Anti-Jewish Attack in Lithuanian Town

One Jew was murdered and many received serious wounds in an attack made on the Jewish population of Newi, a township near Kovno, a report received here today states.

The Jewish population of the township consists of seventeen families, who were the victims of an armed band of Lithuanian Fascists. The pogrom lasted five hours and was attended by gruesome scenes, the report states. David Schliachtil, 40, was killed and a half of the Jewish population of the township wounded. Schliachtil was killed when he attempted to protect his wife. Even the children were not spared. Jewish houses were plundered.

The police arrived on the scene after the band had left the town, the report states.
