More than 2500 persons marched around the White House this morning to protest the high visa fees demanded of Soviet Jewish academicians seeking to emigrate. They urged the US government to withhold trade benefits from the Soviet Union until the fees are rescinded. George Bush, US envoy to the UN, told the rally sponsored by the Jewish Community Council of Greater Washington that the US government “will expend every ounce of energy to convince other nations of the fundamental right to emigrate and to go home,” Mrs. Charlotte Jacobson, chairman, American section of the World Zionist Organization, declared, “there must be no trade with the Soviet Union until this blackmail ends.”
