The Jewish population in the Amsterdam ghetto was thrown into a panic last week when 3,000 Dutch storm troopers, followers of the Nazi regime, broke into the ghetto in a demonstration marking the second anniversary of the death of one of their members who was killed during a Nazi riot in the Jewish section of the city.

Reports received here today by Dutch official circles state that the Dutch pro-Nazi units paraded through the streets of the Amsterdam ghetto shouting anti-Jewish slogans and attempting to provoke street fights. The Jews remained behind closed doors until the hooligans departed.

The well-known Dutch poet, Jan Campert, who was sent to a concentration camp by the Nazi occupation authorities for assisting Jews to escape to Belgium, has died in the camp, Dutch circles also learned today.
