Five refugees from Moravia, threatened with deportation by the British authorities, went on a hunger strike today in Croydon Police Station. They are part of a group of refugees who arrived at Croydon airport yesterday in a chartered plane from Warsaw. The authorities ordered the plane to return with its passengers, but the pilot refused on the ground that they had threatened to commit suicide during the return journey. The hunger strikers are being attended by a doctor. Twelve others in the party are being detained at the Wallington Police Station.
