A Shevouth manifesto issued today by the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada in the names of its 500 members calls upon the Jews in America to contribute to the United Jewish Appeal. The festival commemorating the handing down to the Jewish people of the sacred Book of the Law, embodying the principles of humanity, justice and democracy, the orthodox rabbis’ manifesto declared, is an appropriate occasion for Jews to prove their loyalty to those principles by supporting the programs of the Joint Distribution Committee, the United Palestine Appeal and the National Refugee Service, the three rescue agencies represented in the United Jewish Appeal.
