Five hundred tons of Palestine baked matzos could be disposed of annually in the United States, is the conviction which brought Mr. Samuel Aaronsohn from Palestine to America.
Mr. Aaronsohn, who is a brother of Captain Alexander Aaronsohn, vice-president of the Fels Foundation, is a native of Palestine and an agricultural expert. He was one of the organizers of the B’nai Benjamin, the organization of the sons of the early Jewish pioneers in Palestine.
The production of matzos in Palestine for American Jews is sponsored by the Haifa Flour Mills, established by Baron Edmund de Rothschild, which Mr. Aaronsohn represents.
“When American Jews appreciate the quality of Palestine flour and choose for Passover use Palestinian baked matzos, a great contribution toward the agricultural development of Palestine and its economic strengthening would be accomplished,” he declared.
“The products of the Jewish colonies in Palestine are continually finding wider markets. Considerable quantities of oranges, grapes and wine are now being exported to England and Syria, A market is needed for Palestine flour. The Jewish communities in the United States could solve this problem,” Mr. Aaronsohn declared.
Mr. Aaronsohn further stated that he intends to negotiate with the American matzos factories, including the Manischewitz company.
DAVID A. BROWN BEGINS NEW TOUR THROUGH FOURTEEN STATES
David A. Brown, chairman of the United Jewish Campaign, left for Detroit, where a conference with Michigan leaders will mark the beginning of his third tour for the purpose of organizing American Jewry for the “Overseas Chest.”
Mr. Brown’s itinerary covers fourteen states. and the time allotted for it is 21 days. In that period he will visit Texas, speaking at Dallas. on Feb. 7; Oklahoma, at Oklahoma City, Feb. 9; Kansas, at Topeka, Feb. 11; Nebraska, at Omaha, Feb. 12; Iowa, at Des Moines, Feb. 14; South Dakota, at Sioux Falls, Feb. 16; Minnesota, at St. Paul and Minneapolis, Feb. 18 and 19; North Dakota, at Fargo, Feb. 21. The dates for the conferences in Missouri, Kentucky and Western Pennsylvania have not been set. The state conference for Massachusetts will be held in Worcester on March 14th.
With the completion of this schedule, the United Jewish Campaign will have been organized in fourty-four states.
