Two months in jail is the price a Jewish traveling salesman will have to pay for having refused in Magdeburg last December to shake hands with an “Aryan” salesgirl in a department store.
The sentence was imposed by a Magdeburg court today despite the salesman’s testimony that he had not meant by his action to ridicule the Nuremberg racial laws. He said he had told the girl he “ought not shake hands with you” because she had failed to place an order with him.
