A “hunger demonstration” by about 700 horses took place today on the main streets of this city when some 400 owners of horse-drawn carts paraded in a demand for adequate fodder supplies for their animals. The cart-owners insisted that the food supply for the horses has been declining.
The Communications Ministry today granted an immediate 25 percent increase in transport fares. The increase was allowed because of the rise in the cost of oil, gasoline and spare parts for vehicles.
