The 70th birthday of Abraham Reisen, noted Yiddish poet and novelist whose works have been translated into many languages, was celebrated last night at a banquet here arranged by the Jewish Pen Club, a branch of the international organization of poets, essayists and novelists.
Hundreds of messages of greetings were received from Jewish and non-Jewish literary groups in many lands, including England, Palestine, Poland, Sweden and Latin American countries. Mr. Reisen was presented with a parchment scroll on behalf of the Jewish Pen Club, recounting the role he has played in modern Yiddish literature.
