There are 90,000 Jewish children of school age attending the Yiddish schools in Ukrania, says the Charkov “Shtern.” Besides the large number of elementary and secondary schools with Yiddish as the language of instruction, there are also a number of Yiddish pedagogical institutes throughout the Soviet Union and about one hundred artisans’ schools with Yiddish as the language of instruction, the “Shtern” points out, in expressing optimism as to the future development of Yiddish in Ukrania.
