A delegation of French rabbis visited Ukraine to strengthen ties with the country’s Jewish communities. During visits to the cities of Zhitomir and Kiev, the 15 members of the Chief Rabbinate of France met officials of the Jewish communities, as well as regional and state officials. The rabbis heard how Ukraine is promoting the Jewish community’s development and expressed their desire to work on joint projects, the first of which is a youth conference comprised of delegations from France and Zhitomir. Igor Orlov, the deputy governor of the Zhitomir Regional State Administration, promised to encourage spiritual and cultural cooperation with the Chief Rabbinate and Jewish communities of France.
