A Holocaust survivor told a newspaper that an accused Lithuanian war criminal had saved her life. Shifra Grodnikaite, who lives in an old age home in Denver, said Aleksandras Lileikis had risked his own life to save hers. Lileikis, who left the United States for Lithuanian in 1996, is accused of having handed Jews over to Nazi death squads during World War II while he was head of the Nazi- sponsored Lithuanian security police. His trial was adjourned in March to enable the defense to gather testimony from Grodnikaite and another witness.
