A Jewish cemetery in southern Russia was vandalized earlier this month, the Union of Councils for Jews in the Former Soviet Union reported, citing a local newspaper. Several gravestones were smashed in the cemetery in Astrakhan sometime in early May. According to members of the local Jewish community, attacks on the cemetery take place “no less than once a year,” a local newspaper reported.
