A Saudi peace proposal that may be considered at next week’s Arab League summit will be based on positions from Israeli-Palestinian peace talks in Taba in January 2001. At those talks, held on the eve of elections that led to the defeat of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Israel considerably sweetened its offer from the Camp David summit in July 2000.
