Abraham C. Litton, vice president of the American ORT Federation and a member of the executive committee of the World ORT Union died of a heart attack here yesterday. He was about to board a ship to return to New York, after attending the World ORT Congress in Geneva, when he was stricken.
Mr. Litton had been active in ORT work for 43 years in Russia, France and the United States, where he settled in 1939. In 1940, he established the first free trade school for Jewish refugees in New York, and was its chairman until his death. He was also chairman of the American and European division of the United Jewish Appeal and a member of the national council of the Joint Distribution Committee. He was awarded the French Legion of Honor in 1949. He was born in Moscow in 1893.
