Seven scholarships which are to be used for establishing research fellowships for German Jewish students and which are valued at $2,500 each, will be distributed by the American Academy for Jewish Research when a fund-raising drive for the money is completed.
According to Professor Salo Baron, professor of Hebrew Literature at Columbia University and secretary of the academy, more than $1,500 has already been subscribed for the fund.
Part of the fund will be sought among rabbinical leaders and the remainder from outside organizations. The recipients of the scholarships will be brought to the United States and placed in specialized fields for research.
