Adolph Held, European director of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society of America, was tendered a farewell dinner by the directors of the United Emigration Committee and by the Jewish World Relief Conference. A testimonial in the form of a megila or scroll was presented the Hias envoy who declared in acknowledgement that the American Jews owe more to their European brethern than they have paid.
Speakers at the dinner included Dr. Klee, a German Jewish leader, who declared the problem of emigration had become acute even among the persecuted Jews of Germany, Dr. Brutzkus and Rabbi Hildersheimer.
