Agudah Convention Discusses American Jewish Religious Problems

The situation of the Jews in the Soviet Union and the deterioration of traditional religious standards in American Jewish life were discussed here today at the 4lst national convention of the Agudath Israel of America. The convention also discussed plans for strengthening religious observance and youth education in the United States.

Rabbi Menachem Porush, Agudah member of the Israel Parliament, reported at the convention on the latest religious developments in Israel. At an earlier session the convention called upon all Orthodox Jews “to unite to put a halt to the harassment of the religious population of Jerusalem, and to assure that the Mandelbaum Gate be closed on the Sabbath, so that the religious sensibilities of the residents in that area should not be trampled upon.”
