Agudists and Zionists came to blows to-day at the meeting of the Executive of the Warsaw Jewish Community, and in the fighting the President of the Community, Mr. Eli Mazur, one of the Agudist leaders, and Dr. Feldstein, a prominent Zionist, who was Vice-President of the Community, during the previous administration, when ex-Deputy Farbstein was President, both sustained injuries and had to receive medical attention.

The trouble occurred over some negotiations which have been going on for a long time between the Zionist minority and the Agudist majority in the Community, with regard to the Zionist demand that they should be given the chairmanship of four out of the eleven departmental committees of the Community.

A to-day’s meeting of the Executive of the Community the Agudist majority rejected several proposals submitted by the Zionist side with a view to reaching a compromise arrangement, whereupon the Zionists declared that they would not allow the meeting to continue. A number of Zionist members of the Board of the Community, who had been in an adjoining room, came rushing into the meeting-hall. Chairs and glasses were hurled about, and some splinters of glass struck the President, Mr. Mazur very near the eye, and cut Dr. Feldstein on the cheek.

Mr. Mazur immediately closed the meeting.

The leaders of the Zionist fraction have expressed to Mr. Mazur their sympathy and regret for what has happened.
