Proposals offered by Dr. Nahum Goldmann as president of the World Jewish Congress, with regard to the situation of the Jews in Algeria are being studied “with keen interest and attention” by the Provisional Algerian Government formed by Algerian Moslems, a member of that government told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today.
Mohammed Yazid, Minister for Information in the provisional Government, said also that on other occasions, Algerian Moslem leaders had discussed with responsible American Jewish leaders the same subject. He added that these discussions were being pursued.
Meanwhile it was reported today from Algiers that three Algerian Jews were killed and six others seriously wounded last week by terrorists in the mounting strife between friends and foes of Algerian independence.
