An American archeological expedition will undertake next summer the excavation of Hebron, in Jordanian occupied Palestine, the last major Biblical site in the Holy Land still unexplored, it was announced here today. The burial place of the three patriarchs–Abraham, Isaac and Jacob–is located near the ancient city 25 miles south of Jerusalem which also served subsequently as the first capital of King David.
The expedition, which will be under the direction of Professor Philip C. Hammond of the Princeton Theological Seminary, will also include archeologists from the University of Southern California, the Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary, the American Council of Learned Societies and the American Friends of the Middle East.
