The American Federation for Lithuanian Jews, of which Sidney Hillman is honorary president, today issued an appeal to all Jews from the Baltic countries now in the United States to come to the aid of Lithuanian Jews who succeeded in escaping from the Nazis into Soviet territory.
Pointing out that the Federation will make every effort possible to contact these Jews and to render them needed aid, the appeal also speaks of “thousands of Jews massacred by the Nazis in Kovno and the Vilna district, ” and of the ghettos in which the Nazis have isolated those Jews in Lithuania whose lives they have spared only to use them as slave labor.
