An Anglo-Jewish tycoon hired the pop band Destiny’s Child to play at his son’s bar mitzvah party on the French Riviera. Retail magnate Philip Green arranged for the chart-toppers to perform at the three-day long event at the exclusive Grand Hotel du Cap-Ferrat in southern France. Green lives with his family in nearby Monaco, but chartered a plane to bring 200 guests to the party, which is estimated to have cost around $7.3 million. Green, 53, who left school at 15 and built up a huge retail empire, spent more than $9 million on his 50th birthday party in Cyprus, where Tom Jones and Rod Stewart performed.
