An Argentine Jewish basketball team made the country’s top professional division. Centro Juventud Sionista, or the Zionist Youth Center, is believed to be the first Jewish team to make the top level in Argentina. The team recently won the second-division championship, gaining automatic entry as one of the 20 clubs in the top league. Sionista is based in the city of Parana, 300 miles north of Buenos Aires.
