An extraordinary international conference of Jewish leaders will be held in Israel at the invitation of Prime Minister Golda Meir from Jan. 26-Feb, 3. More than 600 Jewish leaders from the United States, Canada, Western Europe and other parts of the free world will meet to consider the impact of the Yom Kippur War on the economy of Israel. The conference, sponsored by the Israel Bond Organization, will launch a Billion Dollar Reconstruction and Development Loan to be raised through the sale of Israel Bonds in the United States and other parts of the free world, it was announced by Sam Rothberg, general chairman of Israel Bonds. This represents the largest Bond Issue ever floated by Israel. The government was prompted to take this action as a result of the Yom Kippur War which drained the country’s economic resources and led to unexpectedly record defense expenditures.
