Plans for the formation of a liberal German-American organization that will divorce itself from the United German Societies and its avowed pro-Nazi sympathies, are under consideration by the six units which broke their affiliation following a meeting Monday night. The meeting had been called to project the annual German Day celebration and ended in an uproar when members clashed over the Hitlerian anti-Semitic policy.
The two units which resigned Thursday were the Literarische Verein and the Verein der Schlesier. They followed the example of four other insurgent groups of the United German Societies, including the Deutsche Israelische Landwehr Verein, the Prospect Unity Club of Yorkville, the Centre German Jewish Club and the Damenbund, which object to the new Nazi elements that have injected themselves into the parent body and apparently have it under control.
