The Arab states have intensified their efforts to reestablish diplomatic relations with West Germany, it was learned here today. The Arab governments broke off diplomatic relations with West Germany when the Bonn Government exchanged envoys with Israel.
Yesterday, Hamdi Azzam, Arab League representative in West Germany, conveyed a message to the Foreign Ministry from Abdul Khalek Hassouna, secretary-general of the Arab League. While no details of the contents of the Hassouna message were officially released here, it was understood that the Arab League is now interested “in principle” to discuss Arab-German relations and will no longer press demands that West Germany end its diplomatic relations with Israel.
