Armand Wyle who has served this community as superintendent of the Jewish Orphan Asylum of Western New York since 1913 has accepted the position of Executive Vice-President of the Hebrew Orphans Home in Atlanta, who ceeding the late Feist M. Strauss, who died suddenly early this month. Mr. Strauss had been the assistant and successor to the late Ralph A. Sonn, who had been superintendent of the Atlanta institution for thirty-five years, prior to his retirement on pension three years ago.
The Atlanta orphanage serves the southeastern states of Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Maryland; also the District of Columbia. It was originally started as a B’nai B’rith institution, and while still covering the Fifth District of that Lodge, is now under private auspices. The Institution is know for its progressive methods, such as subsidizing widows in their own homes from its own funds and placing children in boarding homes in addition to caring for those who cannot be so placed, in its large plant in Atlanta.
Mr. Wyle will assume his new duties on Jan. 10.
