An arsenal containing revolvers, iron chains, rubber cudgels doubtlessly intended for use against the Jews was unearthed in the garden of the Vienna Commercial High School. The discovery was made following the boasting of some of the anti-Semitic students who were angered at the permission granted to Jewish students to hold a meeting in the “Hochschule” last Saturday.
The students’ protest against the use of the school house for the meeting was rejected by the rector, Dr. Gruenzel, who not only permitted the gathering, but stationed himself and several other professors as guards at the doors leading to the assembly hall during the meeting. Dr. Gruenzel was slightly injured when a crowd of the anti-Semitic students sought to get by the “guard” and storm the meeting.
Disappointed at their failure to prevent the Jewish assemblage, several of the anti-Semites announced that the Jews would “get theirs yet”, as they had prepared a surprise for them.
Search by the faculty of the school premises revealed the surprise consisted of deadly weapons.
