Eighty-three German rabbis have signed an appeal here asking for aid for the school system maintained by the Agudath Israel in Palestine.
The Central Committee of the Agudath Israel, the appeal says, has set aside the months of Adar for a Palestine campaign.
“Now that Palestine has, after thousands of years, emerged from the dim mists of history, it is, above all, the duty of religious Jews to see to the renewal of the Jewish spirit there, and to help in building up a really Jewish future in the Holy Land. The first step in this direction should be the financial security of the Palestine schools of the Agudath Israel, in which about 1,500 Jewish children of the old and new Yishub are being given a traditional Jewish education. We therefore call upon the Jews of Germany to demonstrate to the world at this juncture, when the economic crisis in Palestine is passing, that they are alive to the great importance of the Palestine work, and that they are doing their share to give the Jewish cultural center which is arising in Palestine the stamp of true traditional Judaism,” the appeal reads.
