The Jewish population of Vienna is extremely agitated by a threatened split in the Vienna Jewish community. The Austrian Agudath Israel, ultra-orthodox Jewish organization, demanded that the leadership of the Jewish community, now in the hands of the Zionists, be given to the religious groups and threatened to secede and form an orthodox community, if their demands are not granted.

The Judische Presse, organ of the Agudath Israel, declared that a central committee of Austrian Jewish orthodox elements has been formed to further the Agudath policy. Propaganda for the Agudist point of view has already begun and the government press is supporting the campaign against the Zionists and the Jewish national groups. Mass meetings are being held in the Vienna Jewish districts by the Zionists protesting against the Agudist agitation.
