A case was lodged in the Zionist Congress Court of Honor against David Ben-Gurion, laborite leader, as the result of a clash with Dr. Weinstein, right-wing leader, over newspaper reports Ben-Gurion had said the Zionist Executive condoled Reichsfuehrer Hitler over the death of President von Hindenburg.
Ben-Gurion’s sharp retort to Dr. Weinstein’s interpellation to the praesidium over the reports which appeared in the Pariser Tageblatt, Paris German-language newspaper, prompted the Jewish State Party leader to lodge charges with the court.
The altercation started when Dr. Weinstein queried the praesidium about the truth of the report of the message to Hitler and the report that Ben-Gurion had told a press conference the Zionist Congress, as the political representative of the Jewish people, was bound by diplomatic usage not to countenance severe condemnation of the Nazi government.
The labor leader retorted hotly, declaring he had been misquoted and insinuating Dr. Weinstein and the Jewish State Party had inspired the report. After a vigorous exchange of words, Dr. Weinstein challenged Ben-Gurion to appear before the court and lodged charges.
