A Berlin radio commentator today charged existence of anti-Semitism at Columbia University, declaring “the percentage of Jewish staff members has been kept as low as possible,” the Horace Mann School “does not accept any Jewish children at all “and Lincoln School” has a definite quota.”
The commentator was Otto Koischwitz, former professor at Hunter College, New York, who speaks on a program directed towards the United States. He addressed himself to Nicholas Murray Butler, president of Columbia.
“Now it is perfectly understandable that you have certain restrictions,” Koischwitz said. “Why not? But why is it not admitted that these restrictions exist? Why is it emphasized that the principle of absolute equality and equal opportunity for all is emphasized all the time if you don’t live up to it?”
