The outgoing national commander of the Jewish War Veterans of the United States urged today an “immediate acceleration of shipments of U.S. military equipment to Israel, including the increase of any items required for Israeli defense.” Charles Feuereisen told the organization’s 74th in the Mediterranean is “in the mutual interest of Washington and Jerusalem.” Mr. Feuereisen contended that “nothing less than a strong Israel would prevent Russia from miscalculating in the Middle East.” The JWV elected a new National Commander, Bernard B. Direnfeld, a lawyer, of Cleveland, Ohio, who was the JWV National Judge Advocate.
