Bernard F. J. Simon of Utrecht, the lawyer who will defend. Dutch millionaire Pieter Menten who is suspected of war crimes, is not Jewish as was claimed earlier. He spent some years in Nazi concentration camps. In an interview he said he is a Roman Catholic and that his ancestors came from an old Catholic family in Alsace. During the 1950s he spent several years in Boston as a criminal lawyer. The official Dutch television network which reported last week that Simon is Jewish has not yet corrected its report.
