Louis K. Bleecker was today re-elected national president of B’nai Zion, fraternal Zionist organization, at the closing session today of the three-day 44th annual convention. Louis Lipsky was re-elected honorary president.
The delegates also voted to establish a B’nai Zion Foundation devoted to the promotion of Americanism, Zionism and fraternalism. The foundation, the delegates decided, would give B’nai Zion members and other American Jews an opportunity to identify themselves with the upbuilding of Israel through specific projects, and on the American scene to further the dissemination of Hebrew culture through scholarships, seminars and the presentation of awards for proficiency to students of Hebrew.
At a luncheon session yesterday devoted to the Jewish National Fund, the delegates heard the details of a plan to increase by 25 percent the population of Kfar B’nai Zion in Israel and the completion of a medical clinic in Israel also sponsored by the order. The delegates were ?? given a progress report on the reclamation of the Huleh region, a project in which B’nai Zion and other American Jews have joined as part of the American JNF program.
